Monkey hear, monkey say

Madeline is definitely into mimicking. She will play monkey hear, monkey say for quite a while, especially in the car. I would entertain her from the front seat by saying the things I knew she could say or asking her to sign the things she could sign. Now, she sits in her car seat and begins the game before I do. This little game is difficult to capture on video for the simple fact that she is mesmerized by the Flip camera. She won't play when she hears the Flip sound or sees it. At all.

Today, while her back was to me, I began the game and for the most part, she played along.

She can say the following: cat, mama, daddy, dog and a litany of other monosyllabic sounds that we make. She can sign the following: more, milk, please, dog and all done. However, I really don't think she knows what these mean. But she does immediately start signing "all done" when I start to change her diaper because she wants to be all done. She'll also mimic a growl (it still mostly comes out as "ahhhhh"), kisses, tongue clicks and a bunch of other things. I seriously started this mimicking game to entertain her in the car when she would get fussy. Most of my errands are grocery runs after work and she's usually fussy at that time. This game keeps her (relatively) happy on the short car trip to and from the store.

Now, I know she can say mama and she can say it well. The only problem is that she doesn't say it, in fact, I think she knows that I'm mama, but she still calls me daddy. I think it's become fun to her to call me daddy. The last portion of the video will tell it all :-) It's quite comical (to me at least).
