Happy 4 month boy

I'm actually writing this post on Gabe's 4 month mark.  This is a first for me.  I usually jot notes down during the month so I don't forget, but I haven't this time around.  We'll see if I actually publish with photos today. I'm not holding my breath and I'm the one writing this.  Harumph!

So, my once flipping boy has hardly rolled from belly to back the past month.  It's weird.  He just stays on his belly.  It's honestly as if he's forgotten he can roll over...and truth be told, I'm totally fine with this.  The more immobile he is, the better.  I have a crazy busy toddler that demands my attention and not having to worry with a roley poly is fine with me!

My once - AH-MAZING sleeping baby is now waking up at night again.  But I can't complain because it's two times, at most, and typically one time. He nurses and goes directly back to sleep. And I could never nurse Madeline while laying down, but I've perfected falling asleep while nursing with him.

I've noticed that Gabe is wanting to sit up in his car seat.  I believe we switched Madeline out of the infant carrier when she was about 6 months old and I project we'll do the same with Gabe if he keeps this up.

And I've thrown in the towel on him sleeping in a crib.  I know he's not going to be in the swing forever, but I've now started swing it at the start of the night.  He's (I don't want to jinx it) starting to go to bed earlier (YAY!) and be asleep by 7:30 (if I'm not managing Madeline's bed time). I LOVE the fact that he's in bed earlier because for the first time since he was born, I feel that I (a) have time with Craig and (b) have time for myself.  I know he sleeps well on his belly, so my new goal is to wait it out until he can flip that direction on his own.  Ahhh, the second child...when parenting is so laid back :-)

Gabe's smiles melt my heart and his eyes disappear when he gives me a full grin. He reciprocates them ALL THE TIME, but giggles are still fairly rare.  Cooing is his favorite and he does it. all. the. time.

Bath time calms him down 95% if the time and he kicks up a storm.

His eyes are vibrantly blue and I'm beginning to think they may stay blue, but I wouldn't be at all surprised or disappointed if they turn brown.

Little dude is a CHUB.  I don't know how much he weighs, but he's packing on the pounds and turning into the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man.  And I love it because chunky babies are adorable! I also love knowing that I'm producing enough milk for him.  I plan on not introducing solids until he's 6 months old, so I'll just keep staying the course.  It's hard for me to believe that he's 4 months old because it's gone by very quickly.  Too quick.  But I love being a nursing mom.

He has dry skin and I'm not sure what it is.  It could be eczema and he's still battling some cradle cap, but the rough patches are all over, including his face.  I'll be talking to the pediatrician at next week's appointment about it.  I don't think it makes him uncomfortable, but I do want to figure out what it is.

(I'm a day late...not too bad at all!)
