A little girl and her Tinkerbell

My girl.  The girl that just turned three.  Is in love with her Tinkerbell.  It all started with the cutest pillow cases my mom made for her and it spiraled out of control after that.  But it's fun and makes her dream.  She asked me the other day to get her wings so she could fly.  Lucky for her, she got a slew of wings for her birthday.

Madeline, I want you to know you can fly.  Maybe not in the bird, fairy, butterfly sense, but you can fly.  Dream big, little girl, because you're young and I don't want you to think you are unable to achieve things.  Soar in a swirl of imagination and on a cloud of dreams, Madeline!

Three...where has the past year gone?  Well, it flew by because I was either pregnant or had an infant at home her entire second year of life.  With two kids, the weeks fly by and turn into months before I can even figure out the month we are in.

As I mentioned, Madeline loves Tinkerbell, and Disney princesses, and glitter, and stickers (especially fairy, princess or glittery ones).  I have to admit that I purposefully tried to keep Madeline away from the whole Disney princess revolution, but she gravitated to it on her own and fell in love.  I didn't want her to live in a fairy tale where the girl always gets a prince without really working for anything.  But now that it's out in the open, she's flittering around like a fairy princess...and her room looks like Disney threw up on her walls.  And she loves it and I love that she loves it.

For the first time since Madeline was born...she's average.  She was 50th and 50th for height (37 3/4 inches, although I think she wasn't standing straight) and weight (31.8 pounds) at her appointment.  The girl that was OFF the one month chart at two weeks old and has always been between 95%-100% in height has settled into an average state.  I was floored, but she's a healthy three year old and I'm a happy mama.

She's independent - wants to dress herself, brush her teeth, put on her shoes.  But also dependent - wants to have us help her in many ways.  She's also a show-off - "Watch!" and a tattle-tale - "Akira didn't listen in school, she didn't get a smiley sticker.  I listened and got a sticker!" And she talks all the time.  I'm continuously amazed at ability to converse with me.  I don't know why it surprises me when she blurts out the things she does, but it does.

She's never had a hair cut...but I really think that needs to be rectified soon!

Some of her phrases that crack me up are: "That's under by me!" and "What did you did?"

Her eating has greatly improved recently and I'm trying to limit hollow calories in her.  It wasn't easy at first, but she happily eats raw carrots, bell peppers and broccoli.  She would eat boxes of crunchy things like crackers and Cheerios if I let her, but she's starting to accept my offer of a banana if she's hungry.  But don't get me wrong, she will also blurt out, "Ummmm, no I don't like that, I'll just go to bed hungry."

But the above?  She'd eat the whole plate!

She's very helpful, but also still a little jealous.  I've seen an uptick in her wanting me to treat her like Gabe.  Sometimes her helpful attitude creates more work...like when she takes off Gabe's diaper to change him.  That's ended in a puddle a couple of times! ha!

The other day, she started singing, "Be careful little eyes what you see, be careful little eyes what you see, for the Father up above is looking down with love, be careful little eyes what you see."  It hit me, once again, that she's watching my every move and that Craig and I are shaping her.  Especially now that she is acutely aware of everything around her.  I've also noticed that when we spontaneously dance around the living room, or when I give extra, extra attention she thrives off it.

This little girl is my heart.

Happy birthday, my little Madeline! Once again, I thank you for making me a mother!
