Gabe is a hot mess! Little man cannot catch a break. This winter season is giving him (and me) a run for his money. He's been a nonstop snot fest for a long time now. Between teething and colds, he is done.
Despite it all, he still manages to smile.
And laugh. He doesn't let a cold slow him down much.
He cut a tooth this month, too! He finally has four bottom teeth. I'm going to miss his little crooked three-tooth smile :)
He doesn't like table food. AT. ALL. He gags because he doesn't quite realize the 10 teeth in his mouth can chew his food. Yes, he has 10 teeth, yet if a food needs chewing, he gags. I can maybe get one bite in him and if it doesn't mush or slide down his throat, he tries to swallow it whole and then proceeds to gag and/or throw up. I offer him finger foods at every meal, but he mostly plays with them. He also doesn't like the act of feeding himself. Pfffft. Nope. I have to spoon feed him to get most food in his mouth. It is going to be a huge milestone when he actually starts feeding himself!
Despite him not appreciating foods that aren't smooth, he will eat: avocados, scrambled eggs and bananas. I can make these for him and he will let the chunks slide down his throat. He will also eat a quinoa/broccoli casserole I make (it's soft) and does like the salmon cakes I make, so he'll eat small bites of those. But, his nutrition consists of breast milk and purees. He especially likes peas, so I load those up with butter and puree and he devours them. He also really despises cold foods.
He's not walking, yet, but he's getting close.
He repeats syllables a little more and repeats sounds.
He loves to point out my nose and mouth. We play a game of "point to that facial feature" every night after nursing. He giggles and laughs as he sticks his finger in my nose or points to my eyes and mouth.
He still loves bath time. And he still despises getting out of the bath.
He happily plays in his crib before naps and night before falling asleep.
He loves balls and blocks. And throwing them.
Madeline still makes Gabe laugh the loudest and hardest. In fact, it's become a game for her, "Help me make Gabe laugh, mama."
He's my cuddle-bug and will snuggle before bed. Notsomuch in the morning though, especially if I want snooze a bit. He wants to get up and get moving!
We shall see if he takes his first steps this month...
