So, I went to bed last night feeling icky. I had the feeling I was getting sick over the weekend, but nothing too bad. When my alarm went off this morning, I had made the decision to call work and let them know that I would not be working today. In short, I feel awful.
When I got up this morning, the water heater was making very strange noises. I tried the hot water and sure enough, all the gurgling and dripping noises meant the water heater was not working. Not only that, but the water heater had been dripping water all over the floor and it was seeping into the carpet.
While I really do not like this apartment complex, mostly because the front office gals are rude and unfriendly, I have to give them props on the attention I got today. I guess when water drips from one apartment to another (we're on the top floor), the gals hop to and communicate to the maintenance crew to get a workin'. Within four hours, the water heater had been replaced and we had running hot water. I was pleased. However, the carpet was sopping wet and another maintenance crew didn't think it was wet, just a little damp. Not only that, but they pulled up the carpet and didn't tack it back down. I've propped a fan to blow directly on the wet carpet, but I know it's going to take a long time to dry.
Ahhh, apartment life. At least we will be out of this apartment in about six weeks. If the carpet mildews, we won't have to worry about it.
