A peak inside her room

There's still a lot to do, but Craig worked very hard this weekend transforming the walls from bland to vibrant. I tried to help, but my back has been giving me issues and the fumes were strong for my hyperactive nose. I made cookies instead :-) As a side note, Craig has been awesome as my late-pregnancy ailments have been increasing. On many occasions, he will rub my back in the middle of the night because I am in pain. I really do want to help out more, but my body is communicating that I need to slow down.

OK, back to the room.

The essentials are in the room, but we do need to add finishing touches. I love the fact that it doesn't look like a traditional nursery (with the exception of a crib). I prefer bright colors and contrast - and something that will grow with the baby. I can already tell that the baby will focus on the contrast between the green walls and white furniture.

Let's take a peak, shall we? Welcome to pepper grass" paradise (Behr color name, but I added the paradise part).
OK, so above is the room in natural light. The sun comes in more later in the day, but you certainly get the idea. Plus, we plan on getting a black out shade anyway. The stroller is not going to be a fixture in the room, but I put it there to gauge how much room I may need for a rocker/glider.The piece of furniture in the corner is one of my old pieces. I took out the bottom three drawers and sanded them about a week ago, so that's why they are MIA. It needs a good sanding, repainting and minor repairs. The box, is well, from still moving in and getting settled :-) Please ignore it.
What you see here is what Craig and I affectionately call the "Hollywood Squares." No explanation necessary. You will also notice that the crib has become storage for her clothes. I keep it real on the blog. I'll get around to washing/hanging them eventually.
This piece of furniture actually matches the crib. Since this piece and my old furniture really don't match, I decided to at least make the knobs match. I am replacing the wooden/metal knobs with the glass knobs. Fortunately, my mom had extra glass knobs and gave them to me! I was just going to purchase acrylic knobs from Target that were similar, but I happily took the glass knobs off her hands! My mom also had a wonderful idea of painting a washer and placing it behind the glass knob - so the color shows through! Craig and I have not decided if we're going to paint the washers the color of the walls or many different colors. Either way, I think it will look pretty nifty!

So there you go. No pastel or pink nursery for me.
