I used to dread it when I saw kids, especially infants, boarding my flight. I just knew there would be screaming and kicking of seats and "Mommy, are we there yet?" in that whiny voice only a kid can vocalize.
But now I'm the one boarding a flight with an infant. The tide has turned. Twenty-somethings will be rolling their eyes as they see me board before them with a baby. They will hope and pray that my seat is at the other end of the plane. Mothers who have trekked across the sky with an infant before me will sympathize.
Yes, the tide has turned. It's weird being on the other end of things. It gives me a much-needed and different perspective.

I pray her ears don't hurt. I plan on nursing during take off and landing. She's been up since 5 this morning, after going to bed at midnight (again). When she was yipping away after I put her back down at 5:40, in my desperate attempt to get an additional 20 minutes of sleep before my alarm went off, and I gave up. I went into her bedroom, turned on her light - very much to her surprise - and pretended it was 7:30. We went downstairs, she got tummy time and we played. I realize this throws off her nap schedule, which was perfectly timed for the flight, but I would honestly rather deal with her fussy on the flight and push back her bedtime. Hopefully, *hopefully*, she will go to bed earlier since she got up earlier. I'm keeping her awake, much to her chagrin, right now.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Man, I gotta get ready. Madeline was supposed to be sleeping right now. Babies, sheesh.
Happy Thanksgiving!
