For a little while now, I've been pondering Madeline's title. Is she a baby or a toddler? I guess she's been toddling since before she was 11 months old, but in my mind, a baby is a baby until at least a year. It makes no sense, I know. I've been referring to her as a toddler for some time now as well, but I also call her a baby.
Recently, she's been pointing out babies. I don't know where she picked this up since she hasn't been around any real babies anytime recently. Maybe she picked it up from "Baby Signing Time" (after all, the theme song includes the title), but I honestly don't know. She comes up to me while I'm working, points to the monitor (that looks like a TV to her) and says, "baby." She wants to see babies. I pull up videos and pictures of her and she gets beyond excited. She touches the screen where the image is and says "baby." She knows where the baby is.
So I guess if she can associate what babies are, then I guess I'll admit that she's a toddler now.
