Conversations with a toddler

The other night, right before bath/bedtime:

Craig: "OK, Madeline, it's time to take a bath"
Madeline (running towards me): "Cuddle mama, cuddle mama!"
Me: "No, Madeline, it's time for a bath. I'll read you books later!"
Madeline (looking at Craig): "Watch football with daddy!"

---

The other night after I asked her if she wanted to sit on the toilet.

"Frog sit on toilet" She then trots off and places her frog toilet, sans the detachable toilet part, on top of the toilet.  Again.

---

While driving back from a Chick-fil-A lunch:

Madeline: "Ma-na-lain don't eat books!"
Me: "That's right, Madeline doesn't eat books."

I look in the rear view mirror and see that she's eaten the binding off the kid's meal book.

---

While driving:

Me: "Madeline, what's your name?"
Madeline:"Ma-na-lain Brooke (last name)"
Me: "What's daddy's name"
Madeline: "Daddy Brooke (last name)"
Me: "No, daddy's name is Craig."
Madeline: She recites "Daddy Craig (last name)"
Me: "What's mama's name?"
Madeline: Long pause, followed by "Sweetheart. Mama sweetheart."

---

While watching football with daddy:
"Ooh, he pall down"
"He running!"
"He catched it!"

You know, she actually gets the gist of it all :-)  Football really is a lot of falling down, running and catching the ball.

Sweetheart. Mama sweetheart! She is so right, and my heart has melted right out of my chest into a puddle on the floor.

Well all I can say is that is very important that Madeline "gets" football. Every Southern born girl needs that knowledge! Especially when her Sweetheart Mama's Baylor Bears are bowl eligible yet again! Sic'Em!
