Craig took off yesterday to meet a donation crew to collect the cabin contents...and when I mean contents, I mean virtually everything in the cabin. Couches, bedroom sets, table and chairs, desk, bookcases, shelves, kitchen items, night stands,a grill, lamps, lighting (that was unopened), a myriad of smaller items, decorations, furnishings, and who knows what else. Apparently, the donation helpers were more than impressed with what we were donating simply because people call to "donate house contents" and just mean a room or basically junk. Now, these furnishings were old and outdated, but they were also functional and in good condition. The place we chose to donate to really does keep their prices low to serve a poorer community and it also sounds like once they've paid for their overhead, they help out needy families in the community with monetary assistance as well.
We directly benefited because they brought over free labor and a truck and cleared out the house so we can clean it up and officially put it on the market. I'd like to see it on the market before baby boy arrives - here's hoping!
It's a happy-sad feeling to be letting go of the mountain house, but I know both Craig and I are thrilled at the prospect. Here's to praying for a quick sell and that we can also make some money off it, too. The market is really bad at the moment, but there are opportunity buyers and once people see the potential of this house, they'll fall in love.
