Is it really mid-December?
Is my due date really six weeks away? I still think I'm going to deliver mid-January so I really only have four weeks.
Craig made good on his bet with his dad and we took Jerry and Patricia out for a steak dinner last night.
We've been discussing names and haven't decided on anything yet. Madeline, however, did name her Elf on the Shelf - Chance. I spouted out a few names and she clung to Chance. So Chance it is!
Craig got busy this weekend and worked on organizing our closet. At first, baby boy will reside by my bed, but he will move into the crib in our closet until he can sleep through the night. Then, he'll share a room with Madeline. More on all this later, but you wouldn't believe how many people seemed mortified that I'd put a baby in our closet. :-)
My hernia is getting bigger and more painful. But I guess that makes sense seeing as baby boy is getting bigger and bigger (and STRONGER! OUCH!) But I'll take a hernia over gall bladder issues ANY day.
I made an appetizer with phillo (fillo?) dough last week. Never used the stuff before. And I still have a sleeve of it left so I should probably make something else with it. If I could have served the appetizer right out of the oven, they'd have been really good. But since I transported them 45 mins to an hour after they were baked, they were really flat and weird looking.
Craig and I are discussing circumcision now. I wish I was having another girl for the simple fact that I don't like this pressure! I will say that I'm amazed to discover that 30%-50% of little boys in America are now being circumcised, which means that 50%-70% are being left intact. Guess the societal pendulum is being swung the other direction now and boys are being left as-is.
I'm super-duper excited that Robert Griffin III won the Heisman Trophy. Saturday was the first time I ever watched the Heisman presentation. It was fun, especially since RGIII won!
I'm not done with Christmas shopping and my mom and Katie are two people who have nothing from us yet...and those gifts need to be in Texas prior to the 25th! I gotta get on that!
I'm starting to make a mental list of what my hospital bags need to contain, but also what I need to set aside for Madeline to take to the grandparents while we're away.
Madeline saw me singing on stage at church this weekend wearing "reindeers" (antlers). Apparently she kind of flipped out and did NOT like mama wearing a reindeer.
I'm going to be making marshmallows this weekend to take to neighbors and Madeline's teachers. I'm thinking vanilla with pumpkin chocolate drizzled on top and vanilla with dark chocolate/peppermint drizzle. Of course, the toasted coconut was a big hit last year, too. But I gotta make it more festive so maybe I can put some colored white chocolate on top in the shape of a holly berry or something.
Braxton Hicks have been here and there already with this baby, and I didn't feel a single one and was 3 cm at like 38 weeks or something. Hopefully, they're doing something!
I put a waterproof cover on our mattress last night.

Oscar's bed was in our bathroom for a long time, so a closet seems normal to me!
And on the circumcision issue, I let Eli make the final decision. The doctor used something called the plasti-bell, and everything healed with no problems, just had to wait for the little plastic ring to fall off. So, if you end up going that direction, might be worth asking about.

We left Mike as-is, for family tradition. And we put his pack-n-play in the hotel bathroom because the closet wasn't big enough! I say if it's got a light and a door and enough room, it'll do!
Both of our boys are circumcised. Main reason was for them to be the same as dad. TMI I'm sure, but it was our reasoning :) It will hopefully make it less confusing for them later on in life.
Take your phyllo dough, melt butter, layer a sheet, butter, sheet, butter. Quickly, before it dries out and keep a moist warm towel over your unused stack. Cut your buttered stack into strips about the width of your hand. Cut crosswise to make squares. Drop a heaping spoonful of canned cherry pie filling (somewhat drained)into each square, fold to make a triangle, brush with more melted butter then bake on a sheet until golden. Flippin tasty. Sorry I don't have a real recipe, this is just something my family makes.
Oh, and you can use fresh cherries, but they produce too much water and the pouches burst and get watery so if you have a lot of fresh fruit, cook it first.
