Out cold!
When Madeline goes to sleep, she is easily roused. She's a light sleeper. Very light. I've received criticism about her sleeping with a loud sound machine (we even travel with it), but I noticed early on that she would wake at the slightest noise. I guess since she was an only child and I started working again when she was 12 weeks old that the near silence in the house made her a light sleeper. She never quite learned to sleep with noise! Thus, the sound machine entered out lives. And I don't regret it a bit. She has also NEVER just stopped playing and fallen asleep. I've seen pictures of children fast asleep mid-bite or with toys in their hands, but never Madeline. She has to be in a bed and with her slew of animals. So when she literally wouldn't be aroused Saturday afternoon after an adventurous birthday party complete with a bounce house, Craig just left her. She went from the car to her bed and was fast asleep, we let her sleep for a little while. But I also wanted her to go to sleep that night, so I told Craig to wake her. She went from her bed, to laying down on the trundle, to the carpet and kept falling back asleep. Craig then moved her to this frog mat and gave up again. I had to see for myself...little peanut was FAST asleep, so I snapped a picture and began working upstairs and not concerning myself with the noise I was making. Ten-15 minutes later, she woke up to the noise, but at least she woke up on her own. Sweet girl played hard, in the heat of a bounce house and missed her nap. But we made some sweet memories with friends and it was a joy to see the thrill on her face in something as simple as a house full of air.
