This weekend was not really spent in Stars Hollow, rather it was spent in the North Georgia mountains, where our cabin is located. Where business and people still fly the American flag out front and you can buy old-fashioned soda kept cold in beer barrels. Everyone is instantly your friend and willing to stop and share a story, and all activity in the town stops promptly at 6 p.m. (well, the one bar in the town is still open). There were even acoustic musicians playing bluegrass at sunset.
Katie and I kept laughing at how much the town square reminded us of the town where the Gilmore Girls was set, Stars Hollow. There was a diner, candy shoppe, old-fashioned ice cream, antique stores, and much more - all surrounding the center of the square where a military monument and fountain stood.
Just walking around the square takes you back at least 20 years...just look. It really does look like a Hollywood set.
And I have to tell you about a sign we saw that said, "Celebrating our 30th anniversary???" I don't know what the ??? meant, but it must have been important. And speaking of signs...no caption is necessary for this one, but the word at the bottom says, "Tolerance." Click the image to make it larger.
And where else can you find a horse buggy for sale???
And I have to end the post with the last picture because, well, it's just so darn funny!
Yes folks, that's an outhouse along the back wall of an antique store.
