You get excited about a new vacuum. Craig and I visit a clearance center frequently looking for great deals on things we need for the cabin. I am a sucker for a sale and there was a sign at the entrance indicating an extra 20% off all floor care items. The vacuum I currently used was about six years old and still functional, but the attachment option was annoying. My mom purchased the vacuum for me when I joined the working world. I think I was supposed to upgrade sooner...
At any rate, the Bissell Total Floors Velocity vacuum can be purchased for around $130 from Wal-Mart and for more at other retailers. We walked out the door paying $62.07. Now that's a deal.
Here's where it gets good. The first pass of the vacuum in our apartment pulled up so much cat hair and carpet muck that I am completely disgusted that I ever walked on the floor barefoot. Yuck does not even begin to describe what I saw in the canister. It's not that I didn't vacuum, it's just that this vacuum royally shames my old vacuum. There is even a pet hair attachment that I can run over my furniture! My old way consisted of using a rubber brush to loosen the cat hair. Believe me, this vacuum is amazing.
And the fact that I blogged about it indicates that I am getting old.

ok, yes, you're old.
but i must be old, too, cos NOW I REALLY WANT A NEW VACUUM!!
of course, this may have less to do with me being an "adult" and everything to do with me being a germphobe.
gah - the dog hair and dirt are a pain with my wooden floors. no amount of swiffering, sticky-rollering or shark vacuuming is helpful. Is yours good for wood floors? Because if it is, I'm using that baylor check to buy me one.
