Starting classes soon

Well, I registered and sent my deposit in for Bradley Method classes. We start this Friday and will continue for 12 weeks. I got an email from the instructor yesterday with the required (and recommended) reading list and a nutrition guide. I read through them this evening and I feel like I am a student again. For starters, there are three required reading books and about 20 recommended books. The nutrition guide said I need to eat organic...everything. I understand the health aspects of organic foods, but to eat entirely organic is a bit much (not to mention the financial investment).

I really did waffle between Lamaze and Bradley, but I do intend on natural, unmediated childbirth, which is why I finally settled on Bradley. I do have a sneaky suspicion that my class is going to be full of hippies and people who are rather crunchy. I've heard from a friend who took Bradley last year, that the people are really extreme. My OB practice even told me that they will not deliver individuals who took Bradley classes. Well, I just won't tell them! The reason is because there are multiple (recent) cases where either the mother, baby or both have literally almost died because they were "empowered" with Bradley classes and thought they knew more than the medical professionals. While I do like to be informed, I will never assume that I know more than the midwife, and if there is something wrong, then I certainly will follow procedures.

Friday will tell what my class brings, but I am anticipating hippies.

I wish I'd saved my books! I traded them... I never took a class.. just read the books.. You'll be more "informed" than me! (I put that in quotes cuz I've had 2 kids drug-free, so that's my "information.")

Erin - do share.

I read the book, never took the class. Didn't want to waste the money, and I thought the book was just enough. Turns out it was, Eric was awesome :) Good luck either way!! :)
