From the camera, and a few words

Hmmmm, my posts seem to be getting further and further spread out. Must mean I'm busy or something.

Yup. That's it.

You see, there is hair that is (still) out of control that needs taming. (*note my reflection in the background*)

And floors that need cleaning.

And a little mouth that needs wiping.

Life is busy and I'd rather spend my time with my little girl and amazing husband than on the computer :-)

Craig's birthday has come and gone and I have no picture to show for it! He's 37, by the way. We kept it low key - I made German chocolate cake, we went to lunch (AND dinner) and we've turned into the couple that does necessary improvements on the house in lieu of actual gifts (and I'm not complaining! I like making improvements on our house!). Buying things for Craig is hard because he always says he has everything he needs at home - Madeline and me. He doesn't spend money on himself, he works extremely hard, has taught me to give until it hurts, and he's just plain wonderful. Enter a house improvement plan.

If you've been around this blog for a while, then you know that we have mirrors. Awful mirrors. An entire wall of mirrors.

You could argue that these mirrors make our small townhouse appear bigger, but I think they are circa 1982 and rather tacky. What is crazy is that these mirrors bother me more than they do Craig and yet it's part of his birthday present (score!). We had a lot to do when we moved in (I was 6ish months pregnant) and taking down the mirrors was not a priority (getting the box springs upstairs WAS!). Well, here we are nearly two years later and the mirrors are still up. But they are coming down....and soon! Along with a hearth transformation and a mounted TV above the fireplace. Our space is very limited and if you remember, Craig wanted an insanely huge rear projection TV so badly that he was willing to negotiate Madeline's name to get it. This TV takes up a lot of space - precious space that would be better suited to hold our couch. The problem is that our fireplace has a facade that goes up to the ceiling and we need to route electricity and the cable and reinforce the wall to hold a TV.

So, I guess you could say that Craig is getting a TV for his birthday. He's rather excited.

Construction is set to begin next week.

Honestly, as much as I really, really don't like the monster of a TV we currently have, I'm more excited about those mirrors coming down!

Does anyone want to help me paint the downstairs once construction is done? I'll provide wine and beer and any other suitable motivation necessary to bring you over to help :-) I'm totally serious.

Wine and beer mean nothing to me. But painting and a visit with Madeline do. If you can swing an extremely reasonable ticket price for me, that is my motivation to come!!
