22 months and 4 days

I just wanted to post here, mostly so I can remember, that Madeline is probably weaned. I can't say that this is the first time I've never nursed her prior to bed because I took a business trip in May and didn't nurse her one night. But tonight makes two nights.

Part of me wants to jump up and down and cry "hip-hip-hooray!!!!!" and another part of me is sad. I truly wanted my body back prior to getting pregnant again, but that didn't happen. No break, and I've already been pregnant or nursing, or pregnant while nursing, for nearly three years now...a number that will only increase since I still am pregnant and plan on nursing #2 when s/he arrives.

It's bittersweet, but I am so ready. And seeing as Madeline didn't ask for it tonight, it appears she is, too. Her night time routine was changed up tonight because Craig had to work late and didn't get to do bath time.  That changed her entire routine up and we read books in lieu of nursing. She didn't ask (and she ALWAYS asks) and I didn't offer.

22 months and 4 days. That's a lot of milk. (moo)

And I should say that if you chose to/had to formula feed your child, I think that's completely fine! Obviously, I am an advocate of breastfeeding, but in no way do I feel that I am a better mother than anyone else just because I breastfed. I also know that my success at this was due to the fact that I work from home and Madeline was never put in day care. I was able to nurse her, and I never had to pump (aka torture device...and since I produce too much lipase which turns my milk metallic-tasting once expressed, I put the torture device away a LONG time ago). If you use/used formula, please don't read this post and feel like I think I am a better mother for nursing. I'm just documenting here...and sharing a few emotions along the way.
