Almost thirty

When you’re almost thirty, you think about all the things that happened in your twenties. You know, when you have one more day to enjoy relishing in your twenties youth, you think about your days of old. Or maybe I do.

In my twenties, I did quite a lot. A decade seems so incredibly long and so short at the same time. In my early twenties, I filled my time earning my bachelor’s in music (ahem, that I still have not put to good use.) By the age of 23, I had finished Baylor and gotten my commission into the U.S. Air Force. I moved into my first apartment without roommates and I had my own washer and dryer. Five months later, the air force had me move to Panama City, Florida. I met my future husband while there, but I didn’t know that he was the one. Craig was just a friend to me and we parted ways when I was 24, just three months after I met him. He left for AtlantaOklahoma City. and I moved yet again. This time it was to I also started my master’s degree, bought my truck, began a new career in public affairs and was playing my guitar all the time. I also moved again, into a house with a roommate who I learned was crazy and by age 25 I was out of that house and into a duplex, sans crazy girl. I also finished my master’s degree and was asked to apply for Baylor’s Detachment 810 AFROTC program. At 26, I deployed my first and only time, moved to Waco to become an instructor and had my first major surgery. By 27, I pinned on captain, separated from the air force, went on unemployment, moved again, looked for a job, accepted a job to work for Baylor and got engaged. At 28, I planned a wedding, left my job at Baylor, got married, moved to Atlanta, sold my truck and started talking to my Baylor office about a remote job. At 29, I was rehired into my Baylor job as a temporary worker and later as a full-time employee, moved again and pondered my twenty-something time of life.

I am almost thirty. I wonder what this next decade will bring?

Hopefully less moving...
