Movin' on up!

Well, Craig and I are slowly getting closer to being unpacked. I am writing this post more for history sake rather than entertaining my faithful readers. I think this is going to be boring. But the cable just went out and Craig is traveling right now so I need to do something.

Our bedroom is a complete mess. We've decided to retire the furniture we had for new and we're purchasing it in pieces. We've got the set picked out and hopefully we'll complete it this weekend. Pictures will surely follow, but only after our bed is off the floor and I stop digging for clothes out of my XL suitcase.

The old set will more than likely become a future child's furniture, but for now it will rest in the cabin basement. We're also going to bed shuffle. By this, I mean that we are going to move the master bedroom mattress and box springs from the cabin to our apartment and move either the spare bedroom bed/mattress set or the apartment bed/mattress set to the master. The remaining set will reside in the spare bedroom at the cabin. Phew. It saves us $800-$1000 in the short run to swap out mattress sets versus buying a new set and donating one of the spares. Besides, the best mattress we have is at the cabin and we sleep on it maybe a few times a month. Now that we're upgrading to a queen bed, we can use the mattress where we really live.

At any rate, I am really excited about having a bedroom set. Craig and I were using piecemeal furniture from my childhood, a mattress set that is close to 20 years old, a bed that we lost the rails for in the move from Texas, and older-than-dirt furniture from the cabin that I repainted last summer. We were not about to put furniture on credit just to have a complete set so we've been saving. What we had was functional - to an extent - but now it will be truly functional. we also feel that if we don't buy the furniture now, then we won't ever buy it. But that's another story for another time...

Yes, it will be nice to have a bedroom set.
