Yesterday I went to the OB and today Madeline went to the pediatrician.
I will have made 5 trips to the OB in 6 weeks...not the norm, but my c-section incision had to be opened up and drained. Gross. As a result, I have to go back regularly to make sure it (a) doesn't have to be reopened and drained, and (b) make sure no infection sets in since it was reopened. Like I said, gross.
I caved and took Madeline to the pediatrician today. Her breathing has not gotten better and she's really snotty. She can't breathe and gets to worked up that it only gets worse. It's terrible at night and she is miserable. Her temperament is great, all things considered. She is fine. The pediatrician said that the hormones in her body have caused her nasal passages to swell and it could take up to two months for her breathing to improve. Really?!? Ugh. At least I will be able to sleep easier knowing that her lungs and ears are clear and she really is fine. I will continue to try to aspirate out any gunk in there, but I usually don't get anything and she's left working it out on her own. Anyone have any suggestions on a good nasal aspirator? She was weighed and is apparently "off the charts" for a one month old and she's only 17 days old. Girl likes to eat. A lot. She snacks during the day (all day long) and eats a buffet during her nightly feedings. Needless to say, she's growing out of clothes fast.
All in all, we're both healthy, so I'm happy. Two more weeks and we both go back to the doc.

Oh girl, I hear ya on the visits. Little Korbs' circumcision went awry so between his pedi visits and my midwife check-ups we were going somewhere almost every other day with him for those first 3 weeks. It was awful. Between my symphysis diastasis (not being able to walk or stand or sleep for that matter for over a week) and his big little problem, we were a MESS.
I hope you're healing up quickly. I'll add your incision to my prayers.
Thanks Jen...it's getting better and better, still leaking. Soooo gross, but I'm really healing well. Going out makes me so tired, but I've just been approved to drive short distances and I can increase the distance as I feel comfortable. YAY for progress!
Glad you're making progress! :)
The nasal aspirators from the hospital are 482 times better than the ones from Target/Walmart. Not really sure why, but we had other ones and they sucked (or didn't suck, actually.) Can you use a humidifier in the room? I don't know if that would help or not... Or maybe take some warm baths together (if you're approved for it, of course.)
how big is the incision? Just curious....
