Just checking in...

OK. So, many of you have said that you need to see a baby picture of me to compare Madeline to BOTH parents. I'll do that, but I don't have any baby pictures, so I need to wait until my dad can scan and email one to me. I do think she has my lips and nose, but the rest is Craig. I'm sure she'll change as she grows, but I saw Craig in her immediately.

So far, we're handling parenthood well. Madeline turns 2 weeks old tomorrow and it's completely hard to believe. The time has flown by and yet stood still at the same time. She's constantly changing....daily and it's mind blowing to me. She's a great sleeper (yay for big babies!) already and will go from 3-5 hours every night. It does vary night to night, but the nights where she goes for 5 hours straight is amazing. Craig swaddles her tight and she doesn't budge.

Madeline also has the sniffles. She had them in the hospital and saline was dripped in her nose. It seemed to help, but I had forgotten that she had the saline treatment in the hospital. I called the pediatrician, and since she's not coughing and doesn't have a fever, I was told to buy "Little Noses" and drip saline in her nose and aspirate it half an hour later. It did seem to make her breathing easier, but I'm still stressed about it. I can now relate to all the comments parents make about their children giving them gray hair. I try not to worry and not to overreact, but her breathing was so labored (no wheezing or cracking), it had me worried. I don't know if it's allergies or the horrible weather our city has been having lately, but I'm ready for her to clear up --- FAST.

My dad left last night to go back to Texas. It was absolutely wonderful having him here and I'm thrilled he got to experience the beginning of her life.
I will always cherish the pictures taken on his visit. It was my dad's first vacation in more than 20 years. He doesn't get vacation in his job and him not working = no paycheck. I cannot say enough wonderful things about him coming out. It touched me that he saved so he could take off for so long. I love you, dad!

My mom is staying until a week from tomorrow and the help is great. I'm taking it easy and recovering from my c-section. I take care of Madeline and my mom takes care of everything else. I still cannot drive, so having her around is not just a nice thing...it's a necessary thing.
I just wanted to check in real quick...and now, I want to wind down for the evening. My night time routine has increased in time tremendously!
