Well, my due date has come and gone.
I had an appointment yesterday and was convinced that Madeline would make her grand appearance. Without going into too many details, I was really close to what medical professionals call "active" labor. The midwife I saw just happened to be the one on call and she said she expected to see me again yesterday. She asked that I keep her informed all day long so she could get a glimpse of what her day/evening may look like. I also had a procedure done that "helps" kick start labor. The only thing it did was make me incredibly crampy all day long and I really felt the Braxton Hicks. I left insanely excited that I may not be pregnant today, er, get to meet my daughter!
Today, I woke up pregnant. I'm not disappointed because she didn't come on 09/09/09, although that would have been a very cool birth date, or that my due date has passed. No, I think I got my hopes up from the appointment yesterday thinking, "this is the day" all day long. I know she will come when she's ready and the fact still remains that I am really close and could go at any time.
I am, however, really ready to NOT be pregnant anymore ;-) Oh, and just look at the baby ticker. I have "-1" days to go...now that's just sad.

If you notice that you seem to have a burst of energy, the desire to clean closets, etc, just sit down and rest. Your body is preparing you for labor within just a few hours. She will be here soon and the two of you will be astounded by how great she is!
-15 is pretty depressing, too.
Covering you in prayer as you're about to embark on one of the greatest adventures of your life (and by that I mean labor and birth as well as the whole parenthood thing). Can't wait to hear how your next few days goes!
I feel for you Jen! Really, I do! Because I'm sitting here with a nearly 10lb baby at {one day shy of} 37 weeks and am MORE than ready for her to arrive too.... so my heart REALLY goes out to you!
I hope she arrives soon, for your sake!
Thanks Samantha! Still pluggin' away. I know she'll come when she's ready...and I'm OK with that. I keep thinking, "today's the day!" and then I wait. tick-tock, tick-tock :-)
the waiting is the hardest part. But yes, I know you're tired of hearing it, but just rest. Labor is an amazing thing, but it exhausts you, so you want to be rested and energized to meet that little one! I cleaned the whole house top to bottom and made homemade chocolate chip cookies the day before Micah arrived. I loved the middle of the night delivery (I got to do whatever I wanted, no doctors pressuring me), however, I wish I would have slept because I couldn't sleep for 2 days after that on the hospital bed!! :)
