I know people always say something along the lines of "I can't believe my baby is already [enter age]!!!!!" But man, I can't believe Madeline is 21 months! Is it just me or is the 2nd year of life blowing by so much faster than the first?!?
I was remiss in posting a 20 month post, but this post can serve as catch up for that milestone as well.
A few things I'd like to remember, so I'm brain-dumping here:
- Madeline is starting to combine words to make short 2-4 word sentences. When I can't understand her, she gets frustrated! Toddler talk is hard to understand sometimes!
- She doesn't say "da-pa" for elephant anymore. haha. She says, "El-pant." I have to admit that I'm kinda sad she doesn't say "da-pa" anymore!
- She's started to actually sleep through the night. We don't go in her room anymore unless the cry is off, but in the past week or two, she's actually started to put back down at night when she wakes up. Before, she'd cry/holler out for a few minutes (or every few minutes for a prolonged period of time...). I'm so grateful she's actually settled down at night.
- She's still nursing, but it's only before bed. Not sure how/when we'll wean, but for now it's still working.
- She loves shoes (in case the previous couple of posts didn't clue you in!)
- She LOVES being outside. Too bad it is so dang hot all the time now!
- She signs more and more daily. She absolutely loves Baby Signing Times and I'm so grateful I bought the video series off BabySteals.com when she was around 2 months old. Baby Signing Times is pretty much the only TV she watches and she knows pretty much every word. Some of them look the exact same, but since she can vocalize what she's signing, and usually does, I can make it out. She is so proud of herself when she signs things to me.
- Her Spanish is increasing as well and I've seen her speak Spanish to Spanish-speaking folks. The words are basic, like her English, but if she keeps this up, she's gonna be bilingual! I definitely want to encourage it as much as I can.
That's it for my brain dump. I'm sure there's more, but I'm hitting publish anyway!
