It's funny. We HAD a boy name picked out the first time and wound up with a girl. Now, Craig isn't so sure about it...so we're back to the name game.
I looked back at a post about Madeline's name game and was shocked at all the responses.
The criteria is still the same:
- No gender neutral names (although this is way less of an issue with a boy)
- No unique spellings (because her name will always be misspelled)
- Not too common (I grew up with dozens of "Jennifers" and have personally been in two weddings where the bride's name was Jennifer Marie)
- No name that we don't liked shortened, because I know she will shorten it at one point (i.e. Katie for Kathryn)
- We will call her by her first name (how many of you know that Craig's first name is Jereld? Well, correspondence is difficult when you go by your middle name)
The dilemma we seem to have is threefold. (1) Craig is indecisive and doesn't want to talk about names! He likes to mull them over to himself and no one else before he's willing to discuss. Weird boy. (2) He also doesn't want to use Madeline's "boy name." I think that's just silly and weird, so I'm working on convincing him that it's silly and weird. :-) (3) I like more unique names and Craig likes more common names. I didn't like many of Craig's suggestions for Madeline and he didn't like many of mine, so I foresee the same issue in naming a boy. I could talk names every night if I had someone to talk to (Craig, I know you read this! Hint, hint). I think it's fun!
So there you have it. The name game continues....

Wasn't Madeline's name game solved by the purchase of a television? I say buy that boy a flat screen and choose the name you want! :)
AHH! just freaking go with M's boy name--why is this even an issue?!?!
...silly craig

Katie, the ironic thing is that we now have a flat screen. And it was just the spelling he caved on for her name (I'd have chosen another name completely!), but yes, there was a transaction that took place prior to naming her.
But I've already told Craig he doesn't get a thing in naming this child...not going down that road again! ha!
Jackson and Aiden seem to be quite popular now, so those are out.
I like David, good Biblical name that you just don't hear too much.
Stick to your guns Jen! If he wants to birth the baby, then he can choose the name. Otherwise, you get to make the call!
David is a good one. I like Nathan (although a few friends have named their babies this so maybe it is becoming popular.) Mark is also a good biblical name, and one I'm partial to since it was my dad's name :)
What was M's boy name?
How about Jerald Jr.! JK! Hahaha....go with boy name you picked before. You both obviously like the name..make it simple!
Madeline's boy name was Gabriel or Gabe.
(Craig's mom's name was Gabriela)
