I just may make it to the new year

I seriously need to wrap up 2010...haha. There's plenty of excuses as to why I'm still backdating posts (Madeline is sick again), but I think I'll still live in 2010 because we still have Christmas up. It'll all come down tomorrow, hopefully, and we'll probably stage a photo of Madeline next to the tree with her Christmas dress that she has yet to wear. I planned on visiting Santa with Madeline and am absolutely crushed that we were unable to swing it...being sick really threw an awful wrench in things leading up to Christmas. I like to visit Santa late in the game because the lines are much, much shorter as kids who believe in Santa want to ensure he knows what they want for Christmas well before Christmas day. I can't blame them, but I can delay my trip to Santa. At any rate, no Santa visit happened. In addition,we were so sick when we arrived in Texas on Christmas Eve that we didn't go to church, thus no dress. It's a beautiful dress my in-laws gave Madeline for Christmas and I'm going to get a picture of her in it! Yup, I'm totally still living in 2010. I just may make it to 2011 before my birthday next week.

To catch up from the rest of the Texas trip (or at least some in pictures...I'm certain I've forgotten many details already!)
Ethan turned one! He was absolutely adorable while "eating" his smash cupcake. He barely touched it, but he did bust out in applause many, many times because he knew it was a celebration :-) Waaaay too cute.
My dearest friend Se and her husband came to visit. Se and I have been friends since junior high school and she's a person I'm so proud to call my friend. It was a whirlwind visit, but I'm so grateful that they were able to stop by. It seems like everyone was sick so plans were altered as we went. I wish I was able to spend more time with them, but it just didn't work out.
Vicky and Henry (and Anthony who didn't get his picture taken) visited as well! Gotta love teething babies and how their hands are always in their mouths. Madeline is just something else in this picture!
And this is how I spent my New Year's Eve. We sat with my Granny as she had her dinner. I have to admit that it's very difficult to see my Granny trapped in her body. She can feed herself with her left hand and she watches the activity all around her, but she's confined to a wheel chair. I wish she could hop down and play with Madeline, because I know she would try if she could. But words cannot articulate how grateful I am that she is still alive. It's been a little over a year since she had the stroke and I hope she's around for many, many more years.
OK, so my pictures are really out of order seeing as the next few are from one of my first days in Texas, but I'm too lazy to reorder these. This is Leanna with her daughter Marta. Nacio, Marta's twin brother, was a blur in the house while playing with Keriann's two sons. The three boys were full of energy, thus not a single picture of them!
Friends since junior high, band buddies in high school, roommates in college. Suffice it to say I've spent a lot of time with these girls and I love them dearly. Leanna is a missionary in Africa, Keriann is married to the military and currently in Florida and Ashely is in Texas. It's rare that we can all get together!
Who knows why we're laughing, but the picture makes me smile :-)
And not pictured, mainly because I don't think we actually took a picture, I had a visit with another high school friend/college roommate, Katie. It was a true blessing to visit with you, Katie - thank you for stopping by!

I look through all these pictures and I see such strong friendships that I am blessed with. I wish that I was closer to the people that I call my closest friends, but I am so grateful to have been able to visit with them! Oh, and also for the the fabulous Internet that connects us so easily.

And with this post, I say, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!! I kind of shoved a bunch of pictures and information in one post to wrap up the year. Eh, it happens.
