I almost forgot!

So, I just remembered that I totally forgot to post the completed Christmas card I made this year. What's worse is that I teased you with not one sneak peak, but two. I simply forgot. Sorry!

I have to say that I wasn't really impressed with this year's card. When you come up with a concept, sometimes it just looks better in your head than it does in real life. I actually saw a few in person after the were mailed (and a few returned to sender), and well, apparently the post office has come up with some new scanning method that completely flattens the card inside. I've sent cards with texture on them before and have never had them torn up as much as this batch of Christmas cards.

First, I ordered the red card stock with matching envelopes and it was supposed to have gold flecks in it. Not only was the card stock/envelopes expensive, but you could barely see the gold flecks! Thus, I sprayed all the cards down with gold glitter. This was one round of spraying...I don't think I ever counted the number of cards I made, but it was a lot.
I guess the cards look sort of pretty, but the time it took to make them was ridiculous considering they do look plain. Sometimes plain is great, but I wanted sparkly and fancy for Christmas!!!
Another thing I did differently this year, was make different cards. Most times, I make the exact same card 100 times, but I ended up changing my design when I realized it didn't work out properly. I wanted to originally put three ornaments on each card, but it just didn't fit properly without looking funny, so I cut it down to two. Thus, this time there were many different variations. The solid gold paper above is actually wrapping paper and I put 3-D foam tape underneath to make it pop. I liked the 3-D look, but didn't cut as many solid gold ornaments, (because the original design included two vellum and one solid gold ornament) as I did vellum, so I just used what I had without wasting what I had already cut.

I think the reason why I didn't like these cards as much was because vellum is difficult to work with and look nice. I tried every adhesive out on the market that is supposed to be transparent behind vellum, and everything showed through the paper. I just didn't like the fact that you could see the adhesive through the ornament!
So, there it is. My last homemade Christmas card...or what I think will be the last one. With a baby being born in September, I just don't know if I'll have time to make a whole batch of homemade Christmas cards!
