Picture proof

I would be remiss without posting picture of our new box springs set. Ordinarily, box springs are not interesting. I understand this, but our situation was anything but ordinary. Here's how easy it was for Craig to carry up the new set...no assistance needed.
And here they are on our bed. I love sleeping elevated!
While I was in Texas the other week, our nameless baby (nope, we have not picked out a name yet) got spoiled. Can you tell I am having a girl?!? There is a little Baylor spattering in this loot, but I see a trend here. Pink is definitely in my future.
If you followed my Facebook status updates this weekend, then you know that Craig and I bought an area rug for our living room. We drove to Dalton with the intent of buying a carpet remnant and cutting it into different sizes for the living room, sliding glass door, front door and keeping the rest for the garage and other places. We wanted a mid-pile shag look: simple but not just like carpet. We were under the impression that we could order the rugs, wait to have the edges bound and drive back with them in one day. We were misled and it was going to take two to three weeks for us to get the rugs back. But, there were area rugs on sale in the back warehouse that we could look through and take home. And they weren't just on sale, they were very on sale. Music to my ears. The store would even pull rugs from the warehouse and put them in the showroom and sale them for full price when their inventory got low. The rugs were all stacked on top of each other and difficult to sort through, but if we were patient, we could get an incredible deal on some hand-woven wool and silk or synthetic rugs. Craig and I sorted through the piles for a few hours and could not agree on anything. Craig didn't want anything "flowery" and if you know anything about rugs, you know that 98% of them have some type of floral pattern. In addition, most were too busy for his taste. We ended up compromising and purchasing a 10X10 striped rug. It did have a mid-pile shag look. I got to pick out the entry rugs and I chose the below pattern. Not only was it a great deal - $20 marked down from around $200 - , but I really liked the look. The picture really doesn't capture how pretty it is in person.
When we unrolled the striped rug I was not impressed. I was not really impressed at the carpet place, but I figured it would at least look nice rolled out and with our furniture around it. The coloring was different in the warehouse than on our floor. In the warehouse, it looked like all different colors of tan/beige. Unrolled in the house, it looked more gray. I guess my distaste showed on my face and Craig asked how I liked it. I responded that I really didn't like it. So we discussed our options. We had 30 days that we could return the rugs. I really didn't want to make another trip to Dalton and I could live with the rug. Craig insisted and insisted and insisted that we return to Dalton and take another look at the floral rugs. I really didn't want to, we had church the next day, I had a karaoke team building event at church afterwards and we still have a lot to do in the house.

Craig won and we drove back to Dalton with all our rugs in tow and took another look. I'm glad he insisted and I'm glad we went. We're both happy with the end product. We bought an 8X11 patterned and *gasp* floral rug. It blends very well with the entry rugs we bought. It's not an exact match, but they really do blend. I'm of the mindset that the rugs do not have to match, but Craig really wanted them to, so we have blue and brown rugs all downstairs, with the exception of the kitchen. So, take a look!
While Craig was pouring through rugs, I came across this bright gem. When I said I wanted to decorate the nursery in bright colors, I don't think people quite realized what I meant when I said bright. I really, really meant bright. Seven months into my pregnancy, I've purchased the first thing for the nursery. A rug to go in front of the bed. I also went online today and bought bright yellow and green sheets. They will probably not be an exact match, but that's the beauty of using such vibrant colors. If they are vibrant, then they will blend well. I am considering painting the walls a green color similar to the center of the big circle below. A bright solid color curtain and crib skirt (no matching crib bedding for me...), white furniture, brightly painted shelves on the wall...My brain is now in decoration mode and I am on the lookout for things to compliment this rug. I think it's going to be fun.
