The solution

After sleeping many nights with the mattress on the floor, a hole in the ceiling, and the thought that we were going to have to shell out way too much money for a replacement box springs, we finally had a solution in place the other night.

We didn't bust out a bigger hole or remove the railing.

It cost us $42.

We didn't need help navigating the stairs anymore.

After accepting the fact that we were going to have to pay more than $300 for a split queen box springs set, Craig and I headed to Sears and Macy's after church Sunday to pick up a new box springs. The Sears associate was new and didn't even know what I was talking about, so Craig and I headed to Macy's. This time the associate knew what we were talking about, but we had to order them and it was going to take time to get them in. Plus, we had to pay an additional $60 for shipping. Craig and I didn't want to wait for the order, so we asked the associate if there was a way for us to pick them up today. He kindly told us about a Macy's Clearance Outlet 30 minutes away. We asked if he would call them to even see if they had a split box springs set.

Well, they did. Not only did they have a set, but it cost only $42. There were many catches: we were not going to be told of their inventory, the condition of the set, what caused it to be at the clearance outlet in the first place or what damage it could have possibly sustained. The deal sounded too good to be true, but we checked it out anyway.

When we got there, a really nice associate pointed us in the right direction and we were blown away at the prices of the items in the clearance outlet. All of the furniture there looked brand new. Sure, some pieces had a few scratches here and there, but they were really nice overall. When we looked at the box springs set it was still in the original packaging. It still had the original tags. And, get this, it was the matching set of box springs to our current mattress. No kidding.

One thing led to another and Craig and I fully recognize that this isn't an accident or fate. God allowed things to work out the way He planned and we were blessed in the process. If the Sears associate had known what he was doing and looked up the item we requested, we may have never headed to Macy's, which would have never led us down the clearance center path.

I am a happy camper. So happy that I immediately took a Sunday afternoon nap on the newly elevated bed. It was divine!

I have pictures in the camera, but I can't find my download cord. You'll just have to take my word for it that it worked!
