Our little Madeline takes a while to get comfortable in her crib. In the evenings, she'll go down and coo herself to sleep. Well, coo and wiggle, roll, scooch and wedge herself and then sleep. I've learned to just let her cover some ground in the crib before I go in there and move her to the middle. I usually wait until she's stopped moving and half asleep and then begin Operation Move Madeline. If I wait until she's totally asleep, then I may wake her up. When I move her half asleep, then she'll get comfy again in the crib on her own. The monitor died last night so I didn't get to spy on her, but she was quiet and happy - and it's nice to know I can walk downstairs without the monitor and not worry about her screaming :-) When I finally got around to checking on her, I just had to laugh at how she fell asleep.
And this is why I don't do bumpers and never will (there is a breathable bumper on the crib). They may be cute and keep her from bumping her head, but it would have also kept her from breathing.

* I know the photo quality is poor - I used my camera phone. I didn't want to wake the sleeping baby!*

What a sweet baby! Elsie used to be all over the crib, and I only woried about the bumper the one time, but it's actually been a blessing to keep arms and legs from getting stuck and mostly to keep the pacifier in. Perhaps with #2 we'll get a breathable bumper, too. We'll see.
And we keep something (rattle, chime toy, teething pacifier) in the crib with her so that if she wakes up she'll play for a little while and we can sleep a little longer. It usually works. :)
Yeah, I resisted putting a toy in her crib for so long because I wanted her to associate sleeping with the crib, not playing. I've given up on that though and toys magically appear after naps so I can buy a few more minutes of work time :-)
How could any little girl be cuter than my little grandaughter! I log on everyday just to look at the pictures. Starts my day out good, and gives me a smile before bed.
