*please excuse the picture placement, it looked fine on the preview but doesn't look so hot on the actual site. I just don't have the time to mess with it right now!*
Her birth is almost a distant memory and her baby-ness is quickly fading.
Little Miss Madeline is now 6 months old! The past month has been crazy - teething, sitting up, shorter naps and crawling were just a few of the notable moments/milestones.
Her 6 month appointment isn't for another week, but I know she is still off the charts with her length, but I feel like her weight has definitely leveled out a bit. She is always moving and I assume that contributes to it.
I have to watch her like a hawk now. She is into grabbing everything in sight and I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of time before she does some damage to my glasses. She notices the most minute things, like my hair moving while I am rocking her. She'll reach out and grab the few haywire strands like she's found a treasure. She explores our faces with her hands and I've seen her then move her hands across her face. She's really noticing textures now - the difference between the carpet, her blanket and my chair mat. The smoothness of the hair on her head and Craig's rough whiskers. It's amazing to see her explore the world.
- She has forward motion - it's more of a low crawl, but she is on all fours all the time now rocking back and forth.
- She definitely has two shining teeth that are visible when she opens her mouth.
- She can sit up for long, long periods of time.
- We've graduated her bath time tub because she wouldn't stay on the ramp anymore. She would also get preoccupied in eating it. (I love the third picture because her belly looks enormous!
- Her naps are much shorter now - I don't know if this is a fluke, teething or a developing pattern. I hope it's a fluke.
- She is vocal! No consonants yet, but she'll let you know she's in the room.
- She loves to eat her toes - she even sucks on the big one. Diaper changes are a lot more interesting now because it appears she takes an intense interest in them while getting cleaned up.
- Blowing raspberries occupies no less than 6 hours out of every day. She has even blown them while falling asleep.
- She still wakes up once or twice with the occasional bad night of more than that.
- She will start solids this month! Up until now, the only thing she's gotten is breast milk. I'm going to wait until her 6 month pediatrician appointment to start them.
Which brings me to this burning question - what in the heck do I do with my diapers now? I can throw breast milk BM in the wash, but I can't do that with solid BMs. If you use cloth, please let me know what to do!

You shake/scrape/dunk/spray off as much as you can (at one point I even had a "POOP spatula") and you wash the diaper like normal. No biggie.
like Jen said, no big deal. Just know the first few months of solids can be somewhat peanut-buttery-yuck! :) I'm glad I had a diaper sprayer (gift) with Micah.
Also, just an FYI, the infant rice cereal SERIOUSLY constipated Cara! That's when I moved to making hers, SUPER simple and SUPER cheap. It just takes a pot, a blender/food processor (to grind the rice) and some water. I can send you the measurements if you are interested ;)
Jennifer, I always rinsed the diapers before washing. Either dumped the poo in the toilet and rinsed after flushing, or dumped it and rinsed with the hose outside. They stain, so I kept a diaper pail with a little laundry soap and a small amount of bleach. The diapers accummulated in their til I had enough to wash. Not that difficult. Just messy sometimes.
my mom used to just dunk them in the toilet, and then in the washer.
Like Jen and Misty said.. no biigie.. I actaully didnt start michaela in cloth till she was 8 mos old... we have a diaper sprayer attached to the toilet.. we just hose it and toss it into the diaper pail till time to wash... Madeline is beautiful btw ;)
