So, let's see. One thing I wanted to mention was that my friend Erin and her brand new son visited one night a few weeks back. She just happened to be in town for a wedding so we made it work out that she came to our house. I forgot all about those newborn grunts and sounds and Madeline looked huge next to him!
Shortly after that, my family started rolling in for Madeline's first birthday! Talk about a full house (and our house isn't that big!). But it was tons of fun and I really enjoyed having them all in town. My parents stayed for 10 days and my sister, her husband and their son stayed for four days. Because my sister and dad both had their cameras, I didn't take many photos. Unfortunately, my dad's memory card is lost in the house somewhere (or outside), so here are the photos I have to share. Most from the actual birthday are on that memory card, along with most of the pictures of when my sister's family was in town. Oops. I still have my memories though (and the hopes that the memory card will be located).
OK, so Ethan and Madeline's initial meeting is below. This pictures is simply hilarious. It just appears that she is pulling his hair (or hitting his head) but it's an illusion, a really funny illusion! Ethan was WAY more interested in Madeline, but she did start to warm up to him.
And another day with the two babies. I would also like to point out that Madeline has bows in her hair in all these pictures. It was after her birthday that she noticed them in her hair and preferred to pull them out and put them in her mouth. Thus, she is now virtually bow-less and is now donning the Pebbles look to keep her hair out of her face. Sigh. She has so many adorable bows!
The birthday girl and her proud mama! I made her outfit :-) I wasn't going to pay $40 for a tutu and the "I am 1" onesie is also my creation. I just love the bows on the sleeves. With all the grandparents on her birthday. This was towards the end and she. was. done. This is the best picture of her and it's not that great. But the rest of the pictures show her trying real hard to flop off my dad :-)
And the day Ethan had to leave my parents both wanted pics holding both the kids. My mom's turned out better than my dad's, but both are really sweet pictures.
Finally! A smile from the big girl!
And me snuggling with Ethan. This kid is amazing. He loved to cuddle and will fall asleep on your chest. It was bliss holding his little warm body while he breathed in and out.
And while this picture isn't the greatest, it captures the moment. I believe my sister has a few better ones on her camera, but this was all I ended up with (for now). Here we are with our babies.
It just doesn't get much better than this.
