How she sleeps

Madeline is definitely ready for a bed. She outgrew her crib a long time ago, but I'll admit that I like her trapped.  I mean, I put a tent on her crib to trap her in when she was 15 months old because she was climbing out!  Yes, I like my girl trapped.
But it's time for her to move up.  Craig and I are going to buy her a bed in the next few weeks and we'll transition her shortly after.  Probably not the best timing we've ever had seeing as we'll also have a newborn, but if I'm going to be up anyway, what's another kid that could wake up?  No biggie.

I snapped these pictures one night to show just how little room she has in her crib - mostly because she insists on all the blankets and stuffed animals.  As Craig says, she takes an inventory of what is/isn't there and she knows if we've sneaked something out to make more room.

Do you see my belly in the first shot??

So changes will be made soon and Madeline will be moving on up!  The funny thing is that she loves the tent now.  She wants to close it herself.  I think one of those girly nets that go around a bed are in order for her to let it still feel like there's a tent over her. :-)  Maybe it'll even trap her...

I'd get her a bed now with the canopy. And I would spring for a twin or one of the junior beds. Remove the crib for the next 3 1/2 months. By the time you put the crib in her room for Gabe she should be in love with her bed, and enough removed from the crib to not mind that he has it now. Just a buttinsky mom speaking.
