The past few months have been a blur. So many things have been going on! It's not like I don't want to update the blog, it's more that I honestly don't have the time to update like I want.
But, in a nutshell, here's what our life was like... in October:
We took Madeline to a pumpkin patch. That WAS blogged about (phew!). But then Halloween happened and Madeline's first trick-or-treating experience and then the roller coaster of holidays, travel, cabin changes, pregnancy developing and BAM - the new year!
So let me take this one step at a time: Halloween. We opted to go to the church where she attends the MMO program to do a trunk or treat instead. Grandma Patti had given her a giraffe costume and while Madeline didn't want to wear it while trick-or-treating, she did wear it (and continues to do so every now and then) around the house. I was able to snap a picture with my phone of her wearing it, and it may appear again with a better image if she dons the attire again.
So what did she end up wearing?
We all matched! It was fun and I figure there's only one time that I'd be able to wear a shirt like this, so I totally went for it. I was honestly surprised at how many people told her she was a cute "ghost." Really? And it took about two to three trunks for Madeline to completely and totally get the trick or treating thing. She had it down and would yell out "trick or treat!" and eagerly await a treat dropped in her pumpkin. And after Craig or I prompted her, a "thank you" would surface as well. She had no idea what the candy was, but she knew it had to be good. We let her eat a piece on the way home and a couple more before bath and bed. She was in bliss, especially since she had never had a piece of candy before. And she's not been the same since. She doesn't know what the word "candy" is, but she knows that candy was "trick or treat." In Madeline vernacular, trick or treat equates a sweet treat. She has recently started dropping the "trick" and asking for a treat.
One last thing about October. I won the family's inaugural pumpkin carving contest. :-)
My inspiration? Gabriel and my shirt.
